Taiwanese ASIX Electronics has developed two models of Ethernet controller supporting 32-bit non-PCI Express, with mass production to kick off in February 2006. One of these is the world's first non-PCI Gigabit Ethernet controller and the other is a non-PCI fast Ethernet controller. Characterized by lower production costs, higher stability, and stronger interoperability, non-PCI controllers can significantly reduce response time and improve network connectivity for digital camcorders, DVD recorders, HDTV, home gateways, and IPTV applications.
